Important things to consider

Before acquiring an animal, it is important to think carefully. Regardless of species, it comes with great responsibilities.

Time

Do you have time to give the animal enough attention and stimulation? Have you considered the average lifespan of the animal you are considering getting? You should not only have time now, but for several decades ahead.

Economy

Have you looked into what it costs to have animals? It is much more than just food that is needed. You need equipment and it is important to be aware of expenses related to both veterinary treatment and insurance.

Holidays, travel and unexpected events

Do you often travel on vacation? Do you travel a lot for work? Can you bring your animal with you on these trips? What will happen to the animal if something happens to you? Do you have friends or family who can help you with pet sitting or are you dependent on a kennel? If so, it is a cost that must be included in the calculation.

Thank you for considering helping one of our animals

Many of the animals we care for have had a different start in life and some have experienced difficult things. What they all have in common is that they want a new and loving home. Perhaps it is exactly with you? By adopting an animal from us, you make it possible for us to help even more animals.

All our animals have received a health check from a veterinarian and are ID-marked with a microchip. They have also received all necessary vaccinations. In addition, all cats and rabbits are neutered.

All animals come with an adoption fee. This helps cover some of the costs we have had with the animal, such as veterinary expenses and medicines.

Rehoming of privately owned animals

Norwegian Society for Protection of Animals is a non-profit organization that helps animals in need. The work is financed by gifts and donations and the organization does not receive government support for its relief work. In addition, the work is carried out mainly by volunteers. As a result of limited resources, we must therefore prioritize the animals that have the greatest need for help. Homeless animals will always be prioritized in connection with housing.

If you have an animal that you need to rehome, we recommend that you contact the local branch nearest to you to hear if they have the capacity and opportunity to help you.
