Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Oslo og Akershus bestilte i 2015 en uavhengig rapport fra NMBU Veterinærhøgskolen om dyrehelsemessige aspekter ved avl av rasehunder i Norge. Denne konkluderer med at helseproblemene for mange individer innen flere hunderaser er så alvorlige at tiltak snarest bør iverksettes.
